2 tbsp butter
1/2 onion diced
1 lb ground beef 75/25 (you want the higher fat over lean, this was made in the 1920’s and that’s all they had then. Plus it breaks up easier)
1 tbsp worcheshire
2 cups water
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tbsp root beer concentrate or 1 can of root beer (but has added things like carbonation so may not be exactly like this) (I got my concentrate on Amazon came within 1 day, can use for other recipes with glazes)
Melt butter on med. low hwwt then add in onions to soften for a few minutes.
Turn up heat to high. Add in ground beef and break it up and cover with around 2 cups of water till it’s covered, you are boiling it, so continue to break it up as finely as you can till it reaches a boil.
Then cover and cook till no longer pink.
Drain the excess fat/liquid.
Add worcheshire, salt, pepper, root beer concentrate and simmer till we’ll combined about 10-20 minutes.
Serve over pickles on a regular hamburger bun.
Traditional maid rites has no ketchup and no mustard.
